Lilly Pulitzer is Southern Style

Lilly Pulitzer in Key Largo

Are you a Lilly Pulitzer fan?

If you live or vacation in the South then chances are you love Lilly!

Lilly Pulitzer’s resort wear is inspired by the Palm Beach lifestyle. Her bright, sunny, fun prints reflect all of what vacationing and living in the sunshine is all about.  We discovered a great Lilly shop a the Fisherman’s Village on the Ocean Reef Club Resort, Key Largo.

One of Lilly’s favorite sayings was “Life’s a party, so dress like it!”

Time Out At The Ocean Reef Club

Ocean Reef Club – Key Largo, Florida

The Ocean Reef Club located in Key Largo, Florida was the perfect location for our family’s Labor Day time out.  We have visited the Florida Keys many times before. This was our first visit to the Ocean Reef Club. It did not disappoint.

We had a wonderful time enjoying many of the activities associated with the Florida Keys and we never left the property in three days. Plenty of sunshine and great food was a bonus to our weekend.

Good Bye “Hermine” We’re Flying to Key Largo

Key Largo For The Labor Day Holiday

I’m going to Key Largo for the Labor Day weekend!

Our family has a trip planned to Key Largo with a work related group. We have been homebodies on Labor Day for years. The last time we planned an end of summer vacation over the Labor Day holiday was back in 2004. We had just moved back to Boca Raton earlier that year and were going to go north to visit family and go to the Canfield Fair.

On Labor Day weekend and just three weeks after Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Frances came calling. Our trip was cancelled and we lived for two weeks without power.  How could I forget? Well, it’s been twelve years and here we go again. Labor Day week Hurricane Hermine just came calling on Florida.

The European Village

A Night Out At The European Village

The European Village for dinner at Mezzaluna-Pizzeria was our Saturday evening destination. This quaint little village of restaurants and shops provided our group of family and friends with a memorial evening of good food and entertainment during our weekend stay at Palm Coast, Florida.

European Village offers a courtyard experience with outdoor dining.

Live music was playing in the gazebo.

Weekend At Hammock Beach

Beach Time With Friends and Family

Over the past six or seven years a group of us here in Gainesville have traditionally headed over to Palm Coast to share some beach time at Hammock Beach Resort.  We have usually been there as a group over 4th of July holiday. As always in life, things and times change. The kids get older and new destinations start to fill the calendar. This 4th of July arrived and everyone went their different directions. Non the less, as if by chance, it was the last weekend of July and we made it back to Hammock Beach. Friends, families and fun!

Be sure to check out the video tour at the bottom of  the post!

Cruising The Intracoastal Waterway And It’s Real Estate

Come Join Us As We Go Cruising!

As you may be aware I have spent the last couple of decades in the Florida Real Estate market.  Wherever I travel I am always looking at different homes. While we were in Boca Raton celebrating the 4th of July holiday, I had the oportunity to attend an open house with my son and daugher-in-law. It was waterfront property located on the canal between Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach. That got me quickly into the real estate mode. I love looking at many the different styles of architecture. So,when we chartered a boat to take a cruise in the Intracoastal from Boca Raton to Lighthouse Point, I was camera ready.

Fun And Fine Dining In Boca Raton

Fun, Food and The 4th of July

Yummm! I’ve been waiting a long time for this. My favorite foods in the whole world are Italian and our favorite restaurant in Boca Raton is Trattoria Romana. Having made that statement, I will clarify that there is no scarcity of fine restaurants in Boca Raton. We were only in town for the 4th of July weekend so we wanted to visit the ones that we were missing the most.

On The Road Again!

“On the road again.

Goin’ places that I’ve never been.

Seein’ things that I may never see again.” – Willie Nelson

Good morning!

Why is it whenever I am prepping for a road trip, that song starts playing in my head?

Thanks Willie! I love it.

We’re off this morning. Heading to Boca Raton in south Florida to spend the 4th of July holiday with family.

I’m looking forward to beach time, sunshine, maybe a little shopping and of course fireworks.  Boca Raton is my old stomping grounds. I really enjoyed living there and am looking forward to coming home again.
