Old Navy Spring Dress

I really getting into the swing of spring.  How about you? Saturday was quite a busy day! It’s always great when there are lots of fun things to do and this past weekend did not disappoint. I spent the biggest part of Saturday at the community carnival at Palm Chevrolet of Ocala. Later in the afternoon we stopped by to have some outdoor time with my “grand-pups”.  Patches is a  “Labradoodle” , Gracie & Brownie are “Italian Greyhounds” and last but not least Mikey the “Mutt” (he’s the leader of the pack). Love them all. I was able to keep cool all day in my Old  Navy dress.  A simple cotton shift dress and straw hat was all the fashion that I needed for the day.  How did you spend your spring Saturday?

Black Tie Events

Formal Dressing For Black Tie Affairs

Black Tie Event

Formal black tie events happen throughout the year. But, with the coming of spring time they seem to come around more often. Many local charity events are schedued early in the calendar year.

It is always fun to have a good excuse to dress up. And it is even better when it is an event that is going to help others.

Basic Outfit On Any Day

basic outfit

Wearing basic items of clothing has always been my best formula for dressing and building my wardrobe. I almost always wear solid colors but there is always an exception to every rule. I found this black and white print blouse at Chico’s this season. It has become another staple for a go to basic outfit.

The slacks and belt featured in my outfit are several years old.

They were purchased from White House – Black Market.

My black boots are by Tommy Hilfiger and the small clutch is a from the Michael Kors brand .  Both pieces are several years old.

Simply Sunday: Supper

 What’s Cooking For Supper?

sunday supper
Sunday supper from the grill

Sunday supper at my house is the perfect time for family gatherings and outdoor cookouts. Who doesn’t love a good barbecue.

Chicken or fish, burgers or hotdogs? Everyone has their own personal preference. That’s all fine and dandy. Just so we are eating healthy. And perfect way to pull a healthy meal to together is to serve mixed grilled vegetables.

The following is one of my favorite recipes for grilled vegetables.

Grilled Mixed Vegetables

Basting Oil

1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil leaves or 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves, crushed
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
2 garlic cloves, minced

Vegetables

You can all mixture of vegetables that are your personal favorites.

1 small egg plant, halved
1 large green bell pepper, halved, seeded
1 large red bell pepper, halved, seeded
1 small summer squash, halved

1 small head cauliflower
1 large sweet onion, quartered
1 zucchini, halved

Steps
1
Heat grill. In pint jar with tight-fitting lid, combine all basting oil ingredients. Shake vigorously to blend. Place vegetables in 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Pour basting oil over vegetables, stir to coat.
2
When ready to barbecue, place vegetables, cut side down, on gas grill over medium-low heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium-high coals. Cook 14 to 18 minutes or until crisp-tender, turning once and brushing with basting oil to keep surfaces moist. (Cooking time will vary according to size of vegetables.) Cut vegetables into bite-size pieces.

* This recipe is from the Pillsbury cooking website.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Wishing You The Luck Of The Irish!

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

St. Patrick’s Day is a day for the wearing of green and proclaiming “Kiss me I’m Irish”. One of luckiest and fun holidays of the year. On St. Patrick’s Day everyone is a little bit Irish.

Celebrations abound around the world. Many will be attending religious services. Cities are hosting parades. And of course shamrocks, leprechaun and green beer will be making an appearance at the festivities.

For all my friends, Irish or not, I would like to share a little Irish Prayer.

“May God give you,

For every storm a rainbow,

For every tear, a smile,

For every care, a promise,

And a blessing in each trial.

For every problem life sends,

A  faithful friend to share.

For every sigh, a sweet song.

And an answer for each prayer”.

“If you are lucky enough to be Irish you are lucky enough.” – Irish proverb

May we all be lucky, healthy and happy today. That is my wish for you dear friends.

Spring Break in Margaritaville

Spring Break Southern Style in Margaritaville

Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort
Lobby of Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort

It’s time to start thinking spring break!

I’ve recently visited Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Beach Resort in Hollywood Beach, Florida. Since I am officially a parrot head from way back in the day, I jumped at the opportunity to have dinner at JWB Steak & Seafood restaurant. It gave me the chance to see the resort and all it’s amenities.

I was blown away by the casual elegance of the front lobby. Swings were delightful and relaxing spot for socializing before dinner.  Our dinners did not disappoint. Steaks and seafood were perfect dinner fare. The “Cheeseburgers in paradise” can wait for lunch.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Color Me Red Today…It’s Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Today is definitely the day for wearing red. Hearts and flowers along with lots of red are all part of the universal theme for today.  The outfit that I am wearing is from a small neighborhood boutique, Down To Earth. The top is by Nally & Millie and the leggings are by LYSSE’. Both of these pieces are so very comfortable.

I’m celebrating this day of love by counting all the blessings of love that surround me, family, friends and especially my spouse.

May you all have a beautiful love filled Valentine’s Day!
