Welcome to these first few days of autumn! Now that the calendar has officially declared that we have entered into the fall season. The page has turned and it is time to bring out our autumn decorations.
Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. I love the cooler temperatures, the colors of the leaves and flowers, the foods, plus all the fall activities. Thus I want to savor it as it unfolds. So my decorating plan is to start in September by decorating with pumpkins and mums. Come October, I add in the Halloween theme. Then when November arrives, it’s time for me to bring out the turkeys and Thanksgiving decorations. Three different looks, but all autumn decorations.
Pumpkins and Mums Say “Welcome Fall”
What better place to start the autumn decorating process than at the front door? I personally love greeting my guests and the fall season with pumpkins, baskets and mums.
Pumpkin Tablescape For Fall Decorations
Over the years, I have collected pumpkins in various sizes and materials. My simple, easy tablescape begins with a burlap table runner. Next, I added straw placemats, candlesticks, and an assortment of pumpkins to fall decor.
Then on the serving table, I added some great smelling potpourri in clear vases. Of course, these metal scarecrows find this spot a perfect home!
Fall Decorations On The Porch
One of the quickest and easiest ways to update the front porch is to replace the pillows and cushions. Here in the South, our porches are decorated year-round. So, a seasonal update is required to keep things looking fresh and crisp. I am delighted with my new fall pillows!
As you can see, I have been building my holiday collections over the years. Usually, I add one or items to refresh my supply each year. And I discard any damaged or worn items. For more fall inspiration check out this post from last month. 10 Ways To Say Goodbye To Summer
Autumn Decorations Look Book
As with most of us, holiday collections are replenished and modernized a little at a time. So, I have made a look book of current items for autumn decorating. I always, love looking to see what is new and exciting each season! And, I wanted to share my findings with you.

Hi Kellyann,
I manage to keep my mums alive until Thanksgiving. Then I let them go And replace with poinsettias. And the cycle begins all over again.

Hi Rosemary!
Your decor is sublime,! Just beautiful. I started adding decor for Fall and am posting Friday about it. The table is elegant and I love pumpkin decor. I bought a few glass pumpkins and am thinking of adding some to the front door. Kisses to your little angels 🍁🍂🐕🐕❤️
Hello Jessica,
I do love Fall and decorating for the season. For me it is an on going process starting with pumpkins and mums, adding some Halloween decor in October, and finishing up with Turkeys and Thanksgiving. 🍁🎃🦃
So very lovely. You always do such nice things on your blog.
Talk about upscaling decorations. Your fall theme is sophisticated yet still playful. I especially love the outside corner decorations. Gorgeous!
