Hi there – Happy Thursday! And welcome to this month’s Ageless Style collaboration with my lovely blogging friends. The theme for our July collaboration is “Styling Summer Whites.” And the ladies are sharing how they beat the summer heat while styling white outfits. Now, wearing white in summer makes a dynamic fashion statement. It can be monochromatic, casual or elegant, edgy, and quirky. And just because I stated summer, whites can transcend the seasons and locations using different fabrics. So now, let’s talk about how to look stylish wearing white.
Earlier this year, I shared the posts, All White On Trend For Summer 2022 and How To Style White Jeans. Since then, I have been wearing more whites this season than ever.
Over the years, I have shared more than a few white looks. I paired my colorful Johnny Was top with my all-time favorite Chico’s white skirt and straw hat only a few seasons back.
Once a year, I like to treat myself to a splurge at Johnny Was. Fortunately, I have found these items to be timeless, and I get my cost-per-wear from them. This year, my purchase is a gorgeous white embroidered kimono sleeve shirt. For me, it is a perfect summer white top since I wear it as a blouse, a jacket or third layer, and a swimsuit coverup. Currently, it is on sale.
For an easy way to look stylish wearing white, try adding a few unique accessories. To keep the coastal grandmother authentic, I accessorized a pair of white monochromatic shorts and a sweater outfit with a navy blazer. Plus, add a straw hat and bag along with navy espadrilles.
Here I am wearing a colorful knit top from the Loft, cropped white pants from Chicos, and trending navy boat shoes from Jambu &co. Fortunately, this outfit is currently one of my best-loved INSTAGRAM outfits.
Tips For Wearing Whites
1. Make your peace with stains! They are a reality and will happen, so don’t fret. But, you can avoid makeup on your new white top by applying it before getting dressed. And have a spot treatment handy in your makeup pouch or purse. Always pre-treat stains before laundry.
2. Accessorize! Add a few of your favorite statement pieces. You are going to find that whites make a gorgeous backdrop. Tip: Don’t overdo it, but have fun with it!
3. When wearing white pants, size up. That little bit of breathing room will allow the fabric to lay more beautifully, and you will look slimmer.
4. Don’t skimp on the fabrics. Make sure that the fabric of your white items is quality. You don’t want things beneath the surface showing through. An exception will be if the intent of the design is a sheer top layer with a second layer underneath.
5. When going for the all-white monochrome look, mix the textures of the fabrics and accessories to add depth and interest.

Make your peace with stains, haha. That cracks me up. I know many women say that’s why they don’t wear white, yet I think they are really missing out then. But hey, more for me to buy at the stores then, LOL.
Love all of these examples, Rosemary,
XOXO

All of these white summer looks are wonderful, Rosemary! I am like you…I try to buy one (or two) item from Johnny Was, usually something embroidered. They are splurges, but can be timeless if you pick the right thing.
I’m so glad you picked whites this month. It was a fun challenge!

Marsha,
I focus on cost per wear and splurge on certain items a couple times a year.

There does seem to be more all white looks this year. I like all of yours. Especially the monochromatic shorts outfit with the blazer. Classic!
I was thinking it was just me finding whites so appealing this season. But, one look around and I see that I am not alone.

What a bevy of beautiful summer white looks. I am always leary of wearing a monochromatic look because I want my whites to be all the exact same shade or my blacks to be the very same black. Love how your great Johnny Was pieces offer just a bit of color to break things up and add some extra interest.
You look especially chic in the first photo. Ready for a sunset patio party. That gauzy fabric is just perfect for summer.
I have found that my whites, blacks, and navys are almost never the same shade. So I blend with different textures.
Thanks for stopping by!
