It’s Travel Tuesday Friends !
Today, I am going to be sharing a few of the winter activities that we enjoyed while visiting Jackson Hole, Wyoming on our family ski trip.
Now, if you have been following my blog for a while you will recall that we were fortunate to visit Alaska last summer. We loved the snow-capped mountains, along with cooler temperatures. Everything about the trip was quite a change from Florida and our other tropical destinations. And we wanted to experience more of the same.
The grandkids are learning to ski and looking forward to winter vacation. And so, as our shared Christmas gift, we planned a family trip to Jackson, Wyoming.
Since everyone in our group did not want to snow ski, we decided to plan a few excursions that we could all enjoy together. Now, I am going to share a few of our fun-filled excursions with you. If you are interested, just keep reading.
Welcome To Teton Village
Upon arriving at the Jackson airport we headed out for our ultimate destination, the world-renowned Jackson Hole Resort, Teton Village.
The village is home to a variety of luxury hotels and residences. In addition to skiing and a variety of snow-related activities on the over 2,500 acres of varied terrain, the Village offers shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars, and lounges.
During our stay in Jackson Hole, we were guests at the Hotel Terra. But, we also spend lots of time at the Four Seasons enjoying refreshments and meals .
A Week’s Worth Of Outings
Dog Sled Outing
Our first exciting family excursion was to snuggle into a dog sled and go mushing through the Shoshoni and Teton National Forests. We opted for the half day tours and enjoyed every moment of this unique experience.

These energetic Alaskan Huskies were so lovable and friendly. One of the best part of the tour was loving and hugging on these adorable guys.
Yellowstone Day Trip
It was opening day of the winter season in Yellowstone National Park and the kids were off to the ski slopes. So, Hubby and I opted to take a day-long Snow Coach tour of Yellowstone.
If you like to be warm and comfortable the Snow Coach is the way to go. Definitely, a much warmer alternative to snowmobiling. Plus, we had two experienced and knowledgable guides to highlight every aspect of our trip..
Our tour included a bus pickup at our hotel, breakfast when we arrived at the Coach headquarters, and lunch when we arrived at the Old Faithful Geyer welcome center.
The crowd sits and awaits the coming eruption of Old Faithful.

Thermal Pools
For sure, Old Faithful is huge but there is also a world of geysers erupting throughout the park.
Because it was opening day for the park, there were only about 150 people in the park. It made for a magnificently beautiful day. Yellowstone has two distinct seasons: winter and summer which allow for snow removable and various maintenance activities. If you would like to check the dates, have a look here.
Snowmobile Outing
What Fun!!!
We headed out on our snowmobiles toward the Hoback Canyon in the Bridger Teton National Forest. For 20 miles or so we rode along the beautiful Granite Creek and stopped off to enjoy the grandeur of Granite Falls. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. Sheer granite cliffs tower overhead while majestic evergreens and blue skies are highlighted by the glistening snow.

A Trip Into Town
No vacation would be complete without a shopping trip into town. And, Jackson, Wyoming is no exception.
One last stop at the Million Dollar Cowboy Steakhouse for some refreshment. And so as all good things must come to an end it’s time to return home. I hope that you have enjoyed these highlights of our trip.

Wow! This is such a gorgeous area Rosemary! I have never been to JH or Yellowstone. I am not a skiier, but love the idea of all of the activities you planned, especially the husky dog sledding! The hot springs are up my alley too! Looks like an amazing trip and a great gift. I love traveling and experiencing new adventures, its the memories that last!

This entire area is magnificent!
The beauty and grandeur of the Grand Tetons is breathtaking. Photos cannot do justice to the scenery. Photos are beautiful, but like being there in person.
I too love to travel and experience new and different opportunities.

You should really put a ski trip on your bucket list regardless of if you are a skier or not. It is such a refreshing change of pace from our Florida lifestyle. And so much to see and do besides skiing.

What a great post Rosemary! I’m not a skier but have always wanted to visit Jackson Hole. I was not aware that there was so much to do. I’d love the dog sled tour as I’ve always dreamed of the Iditarod and this surely is the closet I’m going to get. And the scenery is magnificent! ~ Phyllis
Phyllis, I’m sure you would love the entire Jackson – Jackson Hole area. Yellowstone is magnificent and I can only imagine how beautiful it is in summer. I must give credit to my wonderful daughter-in-law, she plans amazing excursions and outings whenever we are traveling with her.
