Here in the south a front porch is the perfect spot for spring and summer relaxing and simply southern living. Plus, it can be an ideal spot to while away the afternoon with conversations and sipping cool drinks. Or, simply enjoy swinging in a comfy front porch swing. Maybe you would prefer to be rocking aimlessly in a pair of front porch rocking chairs.
Ground Floor Porch
Lucky for me, I live in a house with not one but two front porches. And they add a southern style of elegance to the curb appeal. The one on the first floor is where we greet our guests. But, most times you will find us sitting there waiting for a ride to pick us up. When it is time to go home, the grandkids love to sit in the swing and watch for Mom or Dad.
Second Story Porch
Now, the second story porch is a true treasure and a delightful space. Here you can relax and swing your troubles away in a second porch swing! Plus, the view is amazing. The wicker rocking chairs and swing makes relaxing and watching the world go by a true southern summertime treat!
The best part of relaxing up here perched amongst the treetops is that almost no one ever notices that you are here as you watch friends and neighbors walking and biking around the community. That is until a couple of Shelties decide to greet everyone that passes by.
Well, I definitely enjoy spending time on my porches with the ceiling fans slowing moving the air. But the sun and the squirrels have done a number on the outdoor cushions. And so, my first spring project was to replace those faded, chewed up cushions.
Now, my mission is accomplished! I opted to use soft spa-like hues. Ultimately, I feel that those shades have added an even more calming presence to these southern porches.
In case, you like my choices of cushions and decor. I have linked the information below.
As you can see, I am enjoying my newly refreshed porch. Next, on the to-do spring project list is changing up some colors and rugs on the inside. Be sure and check back and I will keep you updated.
Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time, let’s keep living and loving our best lives!

The feeling of front porches with rocking chairs, swings and wicker furniture is such a beautiful dream. Thank you for reminding me of my past and inspiring my future:)
Angie,
Both my parents and grandparents always had homes with porches and swings. They are sentimental for me too!
Rosemary
Oh Rosemary! It is so pretty! Two front porches! Goodness gracious what a treat! And I love your decor! It just feels like a dreamy tranquil southern home full of charm!
Thank you,Amy! You are the sweetest if the sweet!
We fell in love with our home the first time we saw it. We were actually looking at the house next door, put in an offer, and we didn’t get it. We made lots of comments about how much we love the exterior of this home. (My parents lived in a century home with three stories and second story porch looking out over the back yard.
As things often aline when the timing is right, our home had a For Sale By Owner sign in the front yard within a couple weeks. And it was soon ours!
