I am so excited about the start of summer. And as I sit in my favorite reading-dreaming spot I realize that it’s time for a good living room refresh! With the change of seasons, once again I am getting inspired to decorate and change up our living spaces. It’s time for a change! Say goodby to those shades of browns in the throw pillows on the sofas. It’s hello to beautiful new textures and cool shades of blue! – I bet you just might be feeling this way too! With Birch Lane, planning is so easy. The website is full of exciting items for every decorating taste and style. I knew that I wanted to do a quick and easy refresh. Luckily, my basic furniture is in good shape, plus I am happy with the style. My main desire is a cleaner look with a more coastal feel. So it was easy for me to find my style online and see many items that would fit nicely in my home.

Second Step Is Prepping

I must admit that it is time for a good clean and decluttering. It is so easy to add one more thing and then another. I am ready for a fresh, clean, uncluttered look.

Take A Look Before Our Summer Refresh

As you can see, things are looking a feeling a bit dull. The fall-winter shades of browns are a needing to be rejuvenated. And the addition of fresh colors is welcome. Fortunately, my sofa came with six throw pillows: the brown velvet, the script ones, and two with blue florals. During the year, I switch them up according to the seasons and holidays. So now is a great time to bring back the blues.

Things Are Coming Together

By working with items that I already own and staying with the southern vibe, the simple change of rug will make a huge difference. And Birch Lane is the perfect place to shop for a jute area rug. I’m thinking Southern Living with a Coastal vibe.

Next, I am adding a soft blue throw to pick up the blue shades in my floral pillows and a blue striped lumbar pillow. These three items for Birch Lane are making a world of difference in my living room.

New Coastal Look

All finished! It only took a weekend and three items for this fresh new look. And you can rest assured that I am so happy with the results.

We made one major change in the layout of the room. That is the switching of the sofa and settle from one wall to the other.
