From Summer to September

Hello friends!

A smiling blonde woman is holding a coffee mug that states "Fall Y'all".

After a fantastic summer of sunshine, travel, adventures, and a bit of needed downtime, I’m excited to be back here with you. From summer to September, the pace begins to feel different — softer, cozier, and full of fresh beginnings. Summer blessed me with treasured moments.

In June, Hubby and I enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise.

July brought family time at the lake in Wisconsin.

Then August was the time to recharge. So now I’m ready to embrace the gentle rhythm of September.

From Summer to September Wardrobe Shifts

Today’s outfits are all styled from my own closet! I’ve linked a few pieces that are still available or have similar options, just in case you’re interested. Some of the links are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you.

With a new season comes the chance to refresh my wardrobe. I’m easing into fall with pieces that work for warm Florida days but hint at the autumn to come. Light neutrals are a great way to step into fall when the temps say it’s still summer.

Breezy maxi skirts paired with crisp tops and button-ups, lightweight sweaters tossed casually over the shoulders, and chic sandals or flats still feel right through September. It’s the best of both worlds. Yes, comfortable yet pulled together, summery yet ready for fall’s charm.

From Summer to September Home Touches

A southern-style front porch decorated for fall with pumpkins and flowers.

At home, little changes make the season feel new. Refreshing the planters by the porch with fresh flowers, autumn pillows, and throws draping the front porch swing says Welcome with a Southern flair. Let’s not forget, as the days grow shorter, Pumpkin spice treats and candles are at the top of the home refresh list.

Even though our Florida trees don’t blaze in autumn colors, I love creating that warm feeling indoors with subtle Southern touches that bring comfort and charm.

From Summer to September Everyday Joys

September also invites a return to simple, steady joys. Early morning walks, weekend coffee chats, and the satisfaction of creative projects. After the go with the flow days of summer, it feels good to lean into structure again while still leaving room for spontaneous fun.

From Summer to September Gator Spirit

And of course, September means football season!

And we all have our favorite teams. Here in Gainesville, that means one thing: cheering on the Florida Gators of the University of Florida. Saturdays in the Swamp are brimming with excitement, energy, and orange and blue pride. Whether I’m watching from the stands or cozy at home, it’s one of my favorite fall traditions. Go Gators!

Looking Ahead

So, here’s to September! From Sumer to September, we carry sunshine into a new season filled with fresh starts, cozy comforts, and plenty of Southern charm. I’ll be sharing more style ideas, seasonal inspirations, and everyday joys right here this month, and I can’t wait to celebrate them with you.

I’ve missed this space, and I’m so glad to be back. Cheers to all that lies ahead in this new season!

  1. Welcome back, Rosemary! You certainly had a wonderful summer! I love your front porch! That is one thing I wish we’d invested in with this new house. We just have a little space. I miss being able to sit out on chairs and watch the world go by! I hope your September is as wonderful as your summer!

  2. Thanks, Mardha,

There’s nothing like getting back into the swing of things! We love spending time on our porches, soaking in the relaxation they bring while sneaking in a few quiet moments. And decorating them is half the fun.

  3. A Mediterranean cruise sounds like a bucket list item. I don’t have a desire to do a cruise but that one I would love to. Summer is my favorite, and also in a strange way my slower season, and fall is definitely nuts. I love the idea of thosrslower mornings with a walk in the brisk air, sun shining, followed by a coffee. Enjoy that, you deserve it.

    • Hi Bonjana,

A Mediterranean cruise is an excellent way to experience several countries in a short period of time. It’s certainly not your typical cruise. We loved our shore outings in Portugal, Spain, and France. It was a fantastic way to sample a taste of Europe in style and comfort.

  4. A Mediterranean cruise sounds fabulous. Very cute looks for fall. I am looking forward to fall. Thanks for sharing at Love Your Creativity. I am happy to feature your post on Sunday.

  5. It sounds like you had a really wonderful summer! A Mediterranean cruise has been on our list for a couple of years now. I’m pretty sure that is the only way I’d ever get my husband to go anywhere in Europe.

    • Joanne,

Yes, a Mediterranean cruise is a fantastic way to get your first taste of Europe. After your initial flight and once you are on the ship, it’s relaxation time. Your travel to destinations is planned and happens overnight. This allows you to wake up in a new port city or country. We loved our trip. I hope you get to plan one soon.

  6. Ooh, what lake were you at in my home state of Wisconsin? So funny how our Wisconites go to Florida for the winter and ya’ll come here in the summer. How fun to take a cruise too! I just decorated my home for fall yesterday.

    • Hi there Amy,
My family have a home at Twin Lakes and we enjoy visiting Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. You live in a beautiful state. It’s so nice and cool for us Floridians I the summer.
