Hi there and welcome to Simply Sunday! Can you believe it, here we are at the first Sunday in November and the changing of daylight savings time? Did you remember to fall back and set your clocks back one hour? It is exciting time with so some much happening here in the month of November with Thanksgiving a few weeks away and the begining of the holiday season. And so I want to take a moment and share a favorite southern recipe with you. It’s a decadently delicious and heavenly holiday French Toast Casserole.
Now, is the time when we are planning holiday menus. So many delicious items on the list for our main meals. But, many of us entertain out-of-town guests who are spending the night. And we are looking for an easy and tasty breaksfast meal. That is why I want to share this make-ahead southern favorite, French Toast Casserole recipe.
Ultimately, when we are entertaining house guests on holiday, it is a great idea to have couple breaksfast casseroles that we can make ahead and just pop in the oven. Easy peasy and we are done.
Orginally, I was introduced to the French Toast Casserole years ago while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. And my sweet tooth has loved it ever since. Recently, I can across this recipe from the Sweetwater Branch Inn. This recipe along with a egg casserole will make a delicious breaksfast buffet on the holiday mornings.
Decadent French Toast Casserole

- 1/4 – 1 teaspoon cinnamon, to taste
- 1/2 cup Karo syrup
- Toppings of your choice
DIRECTIONS

- Cut or rip bread into bite-size pieces. Layer bread into the sbaking dish until 1 1/2 – 2 inches thick.

- Cover with plastic wrap and soak overnight.
- Sprinkle brown sugar on top and place in a preheated over at 350 degress for 40 minutes until it browns and bubbles.
- Grarnish with powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or melba sauce drizzle.
