Hi, there ladies! I have something so exciting to share with you! Did you know that we classic, over 50 grandmothers are on-trend and hot with the TikTok set? Well, let me bring you up to date. Currently, the term “coastal grandmother” is being coined by a TikTok influencer Lex Nicoleta. And it is trending all over the internet! I love coastal living, I live in Florida, I’m a grandmother, and I am proud to be your coastal grandmother with a southern flair!
What Is A Coastal Grandmother?
“It’s a term that I coined for this aesthetic, if you love Nancy Meyers movies, coastal vibes, recipes and cooking, Ina Garten, interiors and more, there is a good chance you might be a ‘coastal grandmother.’” – Lex Nicoleta
This trend is making me so happy. Because. this has been the underlying theme of the blog from day one. I love featuring the styles and vibes of coastal living. Be it on the northern Great Lakes, to the Gulf of Mexico, or from the Atlantic to the Pacific, I love sharing the styles and vibes in clothing and decorating along with lots of travel thrown in for good measure.
Where Is the Influence Of The Coastal Grandmother Coming From?
Well, it seems that our granddaughters are falling in love with Nancy Meyers movies such as “Something’s Gotta Give” and “It’s Complicated“. Add the hit show “Grace and Frankie” and what’s not to love. These shows have cultivated the love of classic fashions, good foods, and coastal decor. We coastal grandmothers do know a few things!
Fashion Choices
When it comes to fashion choices for the coastal grandmother in summer, they include lots of linen, white dresses, classic sunglasses, blazers, light sweaters, white button-down shirts, stripes, and sandals.
Always looking for and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, you can find the coastal grandmother in the garden or at a farmer’s market. Of course, she will be wearing stylish and comfortable gardening shoes!

I’m a coastal grandmother, too. I live in Savannah, Georgia. Every summer, we host our 3 young grandsons for 2 weeks here in the coastal South. Two of them live in Brooklyn, NY, and the third one lives north of Atlanta in Gainesville, GA. They love coming here, and we take them on a camping trip every summer. Especially for the NYC kids, I think it’s a good learning experience to get a taste of southern living every summer. Love your beautiful house and interiors!
