Hello, and welcome to the August edition of the Ageless Style Linkup, where we meet here on the third Thursday of each month to discuss various fashion-related topics. Each month a different member of our Ageless Style group suggests a topic. Then we all have some fun showing our interpretation of the topic. August finds us sharing, “How to transition from summer into fall wearing denim.”

Monochromatic – Black
Although we may be thinking about the arrival of fall, the temps say another thing. It can still be sweltering in certain areas. So, I like to think of my denim in dark colors such as black.
A black denim silhouette will work wonderfully for a date night or dinner out.
Since we are still in the summer season, the frayed hem of the jeans showcases my Sarah Flint Perfect Block Sandals. The Perfect Block Sandals have been my dress shoes for years. Last year I shared a post reviewing my collection of Sarah Flint shoes.
Because the temps are still warm, I am styling my black Mother denim jeans with a sleeveless shirt from Athleta and my favorite Tommy Bahama linen jacket. I have been enjoying these items all summer, and now they are perfect for a transition from summer into fall wearing denim.

Fall Neutral – Olive Green
Olive green is currently my favorite fall-neutral color! I love the warmth of the green, yet it is still green—the color of summer and sunshine with green grasses.
My only purchase from the annual Nordstrom Sales is this olive green shirt from Frank & Eileen. Although the sale is now over, you can receive 15% off your first purchase when ordering from Frank & Eileen directly. I was inspired to get the shirt after being gifted my Classic Mary Dress for Mother’s Day.
This easy transitional outfit is accomplished by switching my linen jacket for a comfy shirt and belting it on the outside. My Mother Hustles Ankle Fray jeans are my denim purchase of the year.

Taking It Casual
I shopped my closet for a more casual look and found these olive green DL1961 skinny jeans. Yes, skinny jeans! I also wear them with my Jambu suede boots from my closet, which works.
Here I am, ready to hike into fall with an easy breezy look and my LuLulemon Everywhere Belt Bag.

Back To Basics – Transition Outfit
It’s been fun putting together these outfits for transitioning from summer into fall wearing denim. So let’s end at the beginning! It’s hot, so I am wearing the Mother denim jeans with a sleeveless shirt from Athleta, as shown in outfit number one.
Plain and simple, the shirt is untucked and tied at the waist. Then I added my most used bag of the summer, the Half Moon Crossbody Bag from Chicos.
My Dr Sholl’s Slip-on Sneakers have had more than one season of transition, and they are still going strong.

I like the idea of using different colors/washes of denim to work with the seasons. Really like the olive and black together!
Sally,
I think olive green and black make a classic fall statement with color.
All of these are fabulous outfits! I need a new pair of black denim pants. I wear them a lot in fall and winter.
These Mother jeans have a wider leg, but not a huge flare. And the frayed bottom gives them a modern look. Already enjoy wearing them with a white top.
Olive and black is one of my favorite color combos! Love how you showcased different denim looks!

Thanks Jill,
The black and olive color combination is one of my fall favorites too.
This is such a great way to have variety in our denim.
Love it Rosemary,

My goal is always to have multiple outfits from a few items.
Monochrome black and olive is such a great look for AW23. Pinned! Thanks for sharing at #WowOnWednesday
Thanks for hosting Wow on Wednesday, Gail. I love seeing the inspired styles of all the ladies.
I love olive and black together!
Black and olive green are also two of my favorite fall neutrals.
I found an live shirtdress this week that is going to be perfect now and into fall. I am not sure if it is chambray or not but I love it. Love your olive pieces.

Shirtdresses are so easy to wear and style. You will enjoy yours so much.
Great minds think alike with our summer to fall transition outfits! I like that you thought outside of the box and showcased black denim! It looks so good on you and I really like the olive top with it. What a great pairing.

Bojana, I am so pleased that we are on the same page with our fall fashion inspirations. A change of colors can easily move us toward the fall season.
I never think to try monochromatic looks. I think because I usually associate them with being either monochromatic black or white. And I don’t wear a lot of either color. But your all black looks make me want to reach for black and give it another go. Now that my hair is salt and peppier, black and/or white might be more complimentary.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the green monochromatic look. I like the different tones of green. And that cross body bag is adorable.
All perfect transition pieces.
Leslie,
You will look fantastic in a monochromatic outfit. It is such an easy way to put together an outfit. Just add accessories, and you are ready to go.
You look so chic and carefree in all of these denim outfits, Rosemary! I really couldn’t pick a favorite! I always forget about black denim for some reason, but yours is quite wonderful!

Marsha,
I also enjoy stylying my black denim jeans with a fresh white shirt.
