Yes, it is August already! Where has the summer gone? It’s back-to-school time all month long here in Florida. And living in a university town, the University of Florida, I am especially aware that fall is just around the corner. Of course, we will still feel summer heat throughout the fall. But fashion thoughts are turning to fall, and “What’s a good look for August” as we transition into fall?

My first choice when planning what to wear is to shop my closet. A dark monochromatic outfit works well since August tends to be hot and humid, with lots of rain in the afternoon.
When running errands in the afternoon, I enjoy keeping it simple with a shirt, pair of pants, a crossbody bag, and comfortable sneakers.
I have been enjoying the Everlasting Tank from Athleta all summer. It is so easy to wear, wrinkle-resistant, and breathable. I liked it so much that I also have it in white. They traveled so well on our recent trip to Italy.
The newest addition to my wardrobe is these Mother Jeans from Anthropologie. This L.A.-based band has brought back the feel-good look of the ’70s. The leg is wider than skinny jeans and the frayed hem brings an up-to-date vibe.
A favorite accessory of summer is my Chico’s Half Moon Crossbody Bag. I love the crossbody strap, which is detachable. The chain strap works wonderfully as a shoulder strap. Both straps are detachable and perfect for lots of fun mixing and matching different styles. Plus, the bottom zipper quickly expands and collapses the size. It is any wonder that it is a favorite accessory that will be styled year-round.

I find solid colors to be calming. And sometimes, with the hustle and activities of summer, I need a bit of calm in mid-August. Then I am ready to get going again for Labor Day.
Cute outfit! I am so not ready for fall….because it leads to winter, so I’m still wearing a lot of white!
I understand your feelings. A lot of our perspective depends on where we live. Here in Florida, the temps are mid-90s with a heat index of over 100 degrees. So our fall and winter are much different from northern climates.
Looks a great outfit. Stylish and comfortable for busy days. We’re not quite at autumn yet here in the UK, but it certainly does feel like it. Those autumnal colours will be heading out of the wardrobe soon.
Fresh autumn looks and warm cozy colors come with the change of seasons.

I took this bag to Italy, and it was a workhorse. The crossbody strap comes off, and so does the chain strap. It is very versatile.
I haven’t done an all black look in a while but I have a pair of flowy linen black pants that would be perfect! Going to try something tomorrow!

The summer school break in the US was Memorial Day, (May 30th) to Labor Day ( 1st Monday of September) and then it slowly began to change with longer holiday breaks throughout the school year. Good for families who travel over holidays. But, I believe that is one of the reasons that summer feels shorter to us.
