Planning What To Wear On Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day outfit

Let’s think about Thanksgiving today. Specifically, let’s think and plan a few options for what we are going to wear on Thanksgiving Day.

Now the countdown is beginning, Thanksgiving Day is less than two weeks away. For many of us, the holiday will include traveling to be with friends and family. And the rest of us will be preparing for a wonderful celebration of gratitude, family, friends, good food and a long weekend at home.

No matter what our plans the more preparation we can do in advance the more we will be free to enjoy our Thanksgiving Day celebration!

One of the first items on our to-do is to decide on what to wear on Thanksgiving Day. Let’s not wait until the last minute on Thursday morning to think about what to wear. Let’s make a plan, have a couple of options and cross Thanksgiving Day outfit off the list.

A Day Of Gratitude

It is a special blessing to be able to come together and recognize the abundance of our lives.

Our family has celebrated Thanksgiving in many different ways over the years. We have traveled to be with extended family and have enjoyed celebrations that lasted all day. We have gone to the country club for our Thanksgiving Day feast and spent the rest of the day by the pool at home. And we have celebrated with just the two or three of us enjoying a relaxing dinner at home and football on the TV.

No matter how we choose to gather and celebrate the holiday, it is the coming together and with gratitude and a thankful heart that is the essence of the holiday.

As an easy guide for what to wear to your Thanksgiving Day celebration, I’ve compiled some suggestions and listed them below.

The Keys To What To Wear

  • Location: Where will be enjoying your Thanksgiving Dinner?
  • Do you have to travel away from home?
  • Is your dinner going to be formal or casual? Country Club, restaurant, or at home with football playing in the background?
  • Are you going to be taking holiday pics?
  • Are you the hostess or the cook?
  • Lastly: What will the weather conditions most likely be, hot. warm or cold?

Wherever you celebrate your Thanksgiving, you will most likely find yourself outside sometime during the day. Traveling by car, maybe taking a brisk walk after dinner or simply stepping outside for a breath of fresh air, you will be happy dressed in layers.

REMEMBER: Comfort is key! Nothing too hot or too binding.

What To Wear For A Formal Thanksgiving Dinner Setting

Country Club or Resturant

If you are planning on enjoying your Thanksgiving Day meal at a restaurant or Country Club setting, it is a good idea to check ahead for any dress code restrictions. It always feels nice to get dressed up for the holidays!

What To Wear For A Casual Thanksgiving Dinner

A casual Thanksgiving dinner can be a get together your house or the home of friends or family. Again, whatever the setting, it’s nice to put some special effort into our holiday outfit. It matters not our role for the day, it’s always nice to put our best foot forward.

  1. Great ideas for a casual Thanksgiving party — we will have football in the background so I will be opting for comfy jeans with a fashionable top. Thanks!!

  2. And now Thanksgiving is less than a week away! We will be traveling to visit friends and family and I am thankful that everything will be casual. It is so much easier to pack. • Hi Mica,

It is wonderful that we celebrate the holiday in so many different ways and styles! Some of us are actively outside walking and playing sports or watching it in TV, while others are dressed up and enjoying formal celebrations. But, what a blessing that we all stop for one day and express our gratitude ❣️ I remember those two holidays meals in one day and miss them🥰
