Being Healthy In The New Year

Well, here we are once again at the start of a fresh new year! 2022 has arrived and I believe that being healthy and staying that way is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. I know that for me being healthy in the new year is my number one intention!

It’s a New Year and what better time the make a Healthy Fresh Start! Looking back 2021 held a couple of health challenges for my Hubby and me.

He suffered from back pain that turned out to be arthritis and the need for a new hip. My chronic cough was finally diagnosed as Ashma. So, as you can see these little annoyances can turn into big issues. The good news is we are blessed to have these issues under control. And, health and wellness are front and center on our agenda for 2022.

The Plan For Being Healthy

Eating Well

  • First on my list for being healthy is eating well. I am continuing on the LEAN PROGRAM of intermittent fasting with Amanda Niebert. She is a registered dietitian and coach. Since, starting to work with her in 2018, my eating habits are completely changed. Now, I am so much more aware of the foods that I eat and the quality of those foods. At the beginning of each year, I do a seven-week fresh session. And it helps me so much when I am part of a group and accountable daily. Plus, I weigh about 15 pounds lighter.
  • The Lean Program with Amanda Nighbert is one of the most effective online programs that will empower you to transform your life through simple, effective cutting-edge fitness and nutrition strategies.

Exercise

  • Understandably, exercise is of the utmost importance at our house these days. The truth be told since 2020 we have slipped into an exercise rut and it has been easy to put it off until tomorrow. Well, tomorrow is here and both Sr and I are committed to our programs. Fortunately, we have great walking spaces and he is doing rehab for the hip. He is determined to climb back into his race cars soon.
  • On my last visit, I was advised by my OBGYN to start walking with a weighted vest and get back into weight training for bone health. Ultimately, 10,000 steps a day are my goal.
  • I wrote a recent post Staying Fit And Healthy By Walking.

Make And Keep Those Annual Appointments

  • It is a fact that 2020 threw us all for a loop. I will admit that it took me the entire year of 2021 to catch up on all my annual checkups. But, this is a new year, and being healthy means scheduling ahead and keeping those appointments.

Stay Accountable

  • Do what works for you. Journal your progress in a notebook, on a calendar, or within a group. This is where the LEAN Program works for me because I am part of a group.

  1. I love the idea of a weighted vest – will definitely look into that! I’m also a fan of intermittent fasting. Great post Rosemary. Thanks for linking

  2. Gail, I think you will find the weighted vest a great way to add a bit more to your walking exercise.

I can really feel a difference in the muscles in my back and hips.

As always check with your health care professional before starting new programs.
