When planning a trip do you go closet shopping for resort-wear first? I always do! And my favorite resort-wear item in my closet is the maxi dress.
The Maxi Dress
Fortunately, the long silhouette of the maxi dress is wildly flattering on most body shapes. Always a resort wear favorite, this summertime dress style comes in a variety of patterns, fabrics, and colors. It is so versatile that it can be worn around the resort as a swimsuit cover-up in many cases.
Maxi dresses usually fit the body closely on the top. And they tend to flow loosely over the bottom of the body to the floor.
Getting the right length to fit your height is all-important. The last thing that you want is tripping up or getting caught in the hem of your dress. That would definitely spoil the occasion.
Looking for a resort-style maxi dress that is currently available? I have linked a few for you that I have found this year.
Check the links below.
Accessories and Shoes
Accessories
I am wearing a straw hat and carrying a straw clutch handbag. Textures add an interesting fashion style. Be as bold as you like with your accessories and have fun shopping in your closet!

Shoes
When choosing your shoes, it is best to keep it simple.
The dress is making the fashion statement. So, wearing a pair of strappy, simple sandals or a flip flop works best.
Neutral colors make coordinating your resort looks easy. And don’t forget the wedge espadrilles. They will take the styling of the maxi dress up a notch.
Lastly, for a more formal dress wear open toe and strappy pumps.
I have collected some examples of current, comfy and stylish shoes to compliment a maxi dress. Take a look below and click on the photos for detailed information.

All the dresses and accessories featured here are all from my closet and several years old. I enjoy adding one or more items to my wardrobe each year because they are comfortable, stylish, and great vacation wear!
Plus, they are so versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down for casual at-home summertime wear. On many occasions, I will even wear my maxi dress as a swimsuit coverup. Plus, I do love to go closet shopping for resort-wear and go to a resort for a vacation!
Thanks for stopping by today!

You have so many cute maxis. It’s time you got out to a resort! The navy tank one with flowers down the sides looks so chic.
Maybe a resort visit is in our future in the fall.
Our anniversary is in October and hopefully things will be back to a normal routine.

Time to plan a vacation! We only have been to resorts twice (once on honeymoon and another time with kids) and really should plan another one. I like that all the fun is in one place and usually there are several choices for food.

Hi Mirelle,
Fortunately, because I live in Florida, we have lots of resorts readily available and close by. And, that makes weekends or short visits easy.
