It’s been one of those weeks here in Florida. You know the kind of where we just stop in place and wait for what’s next. One of those times when things are indeed out of our control, and we wait. Well, here in Florida we prepared, and we waited for Hurricane Ian to arrive. We watched the tracking of the storm as it made its way through the Caribbean and past Cuba on its way towards Florida. As businesses and schools scheduled closings, we stocked up on supplies and locked down items outside. And we hoped and prayed for everyone everywhere. Ultimately, when life takes an unexpected turn, it is not unusual to think thoughts such as, ” What Are You Going To Do With The Rest Of Your Life?”
On this Simply Sunday, I want to clarify that I do not have your answers for you. Just like you, I have questions. But I do think now is a good time for us to pause. Stop and think, “What will I do with the rest of my life?”
Sometimes it is a huge event such as a hurricane. And many times it may be a birthday, graduation, or simply the change of seasons. Whatever starts the thinking process, it’s okay, and it’s natural.
Remember it’s never too early or too late to begin thinking and planning for how you would like the rest of your life to be.
The Rest Of Your Life Starts Here
Luckily, it’s a new day and a great day for a fresh start! So, let’s think about what we want today and in the future. Let’s think about the elements of our lives.
- Health – Our Body
- Mental and Spiritual Well Being
- Relationships
- Homes and Environment
- Dreams and Plans For The Future
Make A Plan For The Rest Of Your Life
Ultimately, the first step to success is to have a working plan. Once we are aware of the elements which make up our lives, we can begin to tailor our thoughts and plans to accommodate the lifestyle we desire for the rest of our lives.
Our Health – Our Body
First, let’s face the fact that we are all individuals with unique bodies and health issues. And the most important thing that we can do is take the very best care of our precious bodies. Nourish and move it to the best of our abilities. Give it the best care possible.
Our Mental and Spiritual Well Being
Our inner life is where we live. It’s the home of all our thoughts and feelings. So taking time to examine our innermost thoughts and feelings opens us to answers to the questions of planning the rest of our lives.
Relationships
Relationships are a biggie! Family, friends, and love life are all elements that shape our plans for the future.
Our Homes and Environment
When planning our future, where we live is key to our contentment. Frankly, we may be leaving home for the first time, thinking of a job change and different work enviroment, or planning on downsizing for retirement. The options are limitless, but we need to think about them and make plans.
Dreams and Plans For The Future
Well, our dreams and plans for the future brings us back to the conversation as to what are we going to do with the rest of our lives. I am thinking that whatever stage we are in ours lives, we take the time to examine our dreams. And then we can begin to make a plan for fullfilling those dreams.
Until Next Time!
Thanks for joining me and my thoughts on this Simply Sunday! These thoughts are nothing new and are not limited to age or lifestyle. We chatted on this subject back in 2020. I welcome you to share your thoughts in the comment section down below.

Fabulous post, Rosemary, and very timely. Lots of good information and thoughts here. And I agree it’s never too late to start planning. Happy Sunday. xo
It’s Never to late, Gwen. And it’s good to remember it’s never to early either. Many times I find myself procrastinating with thoughts of I must do this soon. The reality is live in today and let tomorrow be fresh and new!
Rosemary
I got this question in many forms when my youngest son graduated. I certainly haven’t had any trouble filling my days!
I have found that once I stop and actually think about these questions, the way becomes clear. And like you the days begin to fill with things lots of new and enjoyable things.
Planning is key, and most of us don’t do it enough! I did take stock when I decided to retire early. Great tips Rosemary!
Yes, planning is key and my days simply flowing so much more smoothly with I have a plan in place.
