How To Rock Your Jeans In January!

Hello January! Welcome to the first Ageless Style collaboration of 2024. This is where we get together as a group of fashion bloggers monthly. And we chat about current topics of fashion interest. It is all done to share our individual, unique, and Ageless Styles. Since January slows down socially after the busy holiday season, jeans become my go-to wardrobe staple. A casual denim look is so comfortable and perfect for a simple day at home. It’s easy to add a third layer to dress them up. Plus, they work wonderfully with sweaters and shirts under coats and jackets when extra warmth is needed. There are many options available. It’s all about size and proportions. So, with January’s winter winds blowing, let’s check in with our friends and chat about how to rock your jeans in January.

Since I spent January in Florida, one of my favorite daily outfits is a comfy shirt, jeans, and loafers. For this look, I prefer a soft button-up shirt and ankle-length jeans. My chambray shirt is from several seasons ago and was purchased at Target. I have shared these Mother Mid Rise Dazzler Jeans many times. The straight-leg silhouette of these pants and cropped at the ankles make them a work-with-everything style for any body.

When it comes to accessories, I like to keep it simple with loafers and a handbag—this marvelous Mme.MINK handbag was a birthday gift from my family. This is a brand new to me, and I love it.

The Skinny On Jeans

Throughout the seasons of 2023, we heard lots of hype and advice on the width of the legs for our jeans. The news was, “Skinny Jeans Are Out!” Thankfully, many fun and exciting options exist for every silhouette and figure. I love mixing up my looks with many of the cuts available. They are cropped-ankle length, boot-cut, boyfriend, wide-leg, and various lengths from which to choose.

But I do hope that you have not tossed all your skinny jeans. In my view, skinny jeans are terrific on those winter occasions requiring boots. I love how they easily tuck inside my winter boots for a slim silhouette.

I shopped my closet for this outfit to wear to The World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida, on a Sunday afternoon. The wool jacket is from Talbots, the top is from EileenFisher, the jeans are from AG, and the boots are from Ralph Lauren.

Because good, well-fitting jeans are investment items, you will undoubtedly find me rocking my skinny jeans with my boots in January.

You Can Rock Your Jeans With Flare!

Although January finds me mainly in a casual fashion mode, I still enjoy the fun vibes of my flare-leg jeans. They are casual pants with a sassy bit of fun.

This outfit was shot as I was headed out for my dental appointment. The temperature was 30 degrees Fahrenheit at 8 am in Gainesville, Florida. That’s chilly here in North Florida.

So, I am keeping my outfit for the day simple—a black turtleneck sweater shopped from my closet (similar Talbots). My quilted jacket is North Face from several years ago – Our trip to Alaska.

Accessories are a Chico’s – crossbody along with a pair of white ON Cloud sneakers. Last but not least my favorite Flare Jeans by Pilcro at Anthropologie are another example of how I rock my jeans in January.

  1. Hi Mireille,
Trends are just trends, and they are fun! But we need to wear what works for our bodies and lifestyle.

    • Thanks, Amy,
It is so easy to get wrapped up with trends. I love my jeans and find it fun to mix the different cuts for different occasions.

  2. All 3 of these are fabulous looks. I never tossed my skinny jeans either and wear them quite frequently but I think my favorites are a nice pair of dark flare jeans. They tend to look “dressier” to me.

    • It is fun to express ourselves with fashion. Wearing only one look would undoubtedly get boring quickly.

  3. I’m not sure I can choose a favorite since all 3 are great in their own way. But I’m partial to animal print shoes, so I would be most likely to replicate #1 from my own closet. I love that this is an era with so many different jeans styles out there.

    • Sally,

We may have finally realized that fashion is meant to flatter our figures. It is fun to admire trends with friends and enjoy wearing the styles we love.

    • Marsha,
I am so happy you enjoyed today’s post.
I am now at the age where comfortable shoes are essential to my wardrobe. Not only do they provide comfort, they add that extra touch to outfits.

PS. I still love my handbags, but shoes must take top priority.

    • Thanks, Kathrine!
It is wonderful that we are able to enjoy the cuts and styles that work for our body types❣️

  4. I love this outfit on you. You really nailed it and at first look I thought you had a leather jacket on but realized it was a quilted one which also.looms fantastic. This is the perfect flare fig and I also love the variety that I have in my current closet, straight leg (close to a skinny jean), mom jeans in acid wash, and a flare jeans similar to yours.

    Also, your pup is adorable.

    • Gail, I must admit that I love most cuts of jeans,
and I am enjoying the fresh look of the wider-legged ones.

  5. All of your looks are spot on but the flares with the quilted jacket and turtleneck is just adorable on you. You look like a college coed. And your hair looks fabulous. Love your little photobombers, too.
