I’m back from a short vacay-getaway and ready to get a “Healthy Fresh Start on Fall”! The Labor Day holiday is now over, and the first day of fall has not yet to officially arrive but I am ready to make some positive changes in my lifestyle.
Now, I must be truthful and admit that I have let my devotion to diet and exercise slide big time this past Summer! But, today is the day for a fresh start! No waiting for Monday to get started. No more excuses!
I am ready to get back to good food choices, portion control, and more physical activity. Here’s my plan for a start fresh this fall.
The Plan
First and foremost, to start my day on a positive and productive note is to make a working plan. And, I have found a perfect tool that works well for me. It is these days at a time tear-off planner sheets from Amazon!
They are perfect, in that I start by coordinating my daily schedule from my regular monthly or weekly planner onto one sheet of paper. Although I still use my phone apps and calendars, this sheet of paper is so easy to use and shows my day and thoughts at a single glance. It covers all my tracking needs for the day, including health and fitness, food, water intake, appointments, to-do list, and any little thing that I might want to scribble down. I carry it with me throughout the day. At the end of the day after I have updated my calendars, then I just toss it. No more looking for scraps of paper with jotted notes.
The Lean Plan
As far as my healthy diet plan, I am back on track with the LEAN program with Amanda Nighbert. I have loved this program since back in 2018. is Why, because it burns fat and it works! With so much information and articles on weight loss and diet, I find it hard to navigate through it all and have a healthy lifestyle. I do want to emphasize healthy because while I am building muscle and losing weight with the LEAN, I am focused on choosing healthy, tasty foods while balancing my macros. Amanda also provides inspiring daily recipes along with exercises and videos, which is all-important in staying strong and healthy at any age. I have written many posts about the subject, and here is one if you would like a look back.

Exercise
Currently, walking is my exercise of choice. Taking a fast or slow walk out in the fresh air and sunshine are terrific ways to get a daily dose of training for my fitness goal. I recently shared a post, Falling in Love with Walking. There are so many health benefits to walking.
The American Heart Association states that “Walking is one of the simplest ways to get active and stay active”. Plus, it is shown to improve cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure.
Walking is so simple. So why not just go for a walk and enjoy it! It is an essential part of my Healthy Fresh Start program this Fall.
Summary of my Healthy Fresh Start Plan
In summary, my starting fresh this fall is simply three parts:
Make a plan and track it.
Have a healthy diet plan.
Decide on an exercise program and do it!
*(Be sure to check with your physician before starting any physical exercise program.)

Walking is my healthy choice too!
Walking is the perfect exercise! No special equipment needed, you can do it at your own pace, and it’s free!
Rosemary
Your post is inspiring! I’ve been letting my routine slip a bit too! I love to walk everyday though. It’s my me time. Great post!

Rosemary
Rosemary,
I think many of us have enjoyed the summer eating and drinking too much.
I love walking for exercise but I need to add weights and core exercise now!
Hugs,
Robin
Robin,
I so need the core work.
My weight has not changed, but fat weights less than muscle. And the body weight is definitely shifting on me.
Rosemary
I love the entire list. Walking and light strength training make me feel fabulous. And yes, I am getting back on track too. The holiday feasts are coming…
Rebecca,
You are so right! Now is the time to think about the holiday treats! And I do feel so much better when I am in good physical shape!
Rosemary
Love your overall plan, Rosemary! Looking into those daily planner sheets, and your lean program with Amanda. Doing something else right now, but, let’s see how long that lasts, lol!
These planner sheets are great!
The good thing for me with the LEAN program is daily coaching and accountability.
Rosemary
I know you mean business now Rosemary you’ve put a lot of thought into succeeding and I’m looking forward to seeing your progress.
Nancy,
Accountability is key for me, Nancy. I need the encouragement of going to my gym and seeing friends and neighbors. I have missed that so much this past summer.
That is an advantage of the LEAN program too. You are accountable everyday for your progress and receive encouragement and guidance.
Rosemary
I am with you sister – working to get back on track with healthy eating and exercise. Thanks for the tips and resources.
This is a great time of year to get back on track for the coming holiday season.

Melanie
Mel,
I’ve been working with Amanda since spring of 2018 along with a group of friends here in town. It is one of those programs that I keep going back to again and again.
I love getting my steps in for exercise. I am two weeks in to getting back on track after the Covid 15 (lbs) for me. It feels good to eat healthy and exercise again. Thanks for sharing this post. It helps keep me motivated. Great recommendations.

Sherry,
Great! I am feeling so much more energized this past week. Healthy choices make such an amazing difference i our lives.
Rosemary
Great post, Rosemary! I opt for walking most days as well. And I do the kids’ at home gym warm ups! If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em and it’s the only way to get these kiddos to do the school stuff at home! But it’s good for me so I embrace it. Cheers to healthier living!
