As we step into February, thoughts turn to hearts and Valentines. But do you know that February is American Heart Month? And so I am wearing Red For Heart Awareness Month to help raise awareness that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. and is largely preventable.
National Wear Red Day®
The first Friday in February is National Wear Red Day®. So you will see many ladies wearing red as a reminder to become aware of heart disease risks and causes. Plus, knowing that there are numerous ways to control and prevent this disease
Heart Healthy Lifestyle
First, a heart-healthy lifestyle starts by understanding your risk.
Secondly, making healthy choices.
Third, are you taking preventive measures to lower your risk of coronary heart disease?
Risk factors for heart disease
Below I have listed the Risk Factors For Heart Disease as outlined on NIH website.
- Have high blood pressure?
- Have high blood cholesterol?
- Have overweight or obese?
- Have prediabetes or diabetes?
- Smoke?
- Do you get regular physical activity?
- Have a family history of early heart disease; for example, if your father or brother was diagnosed before age 55, or your mother or sister was diagnosed before age 65?
- Have a history of preeclampsia, a sudden rise in blood pressure, and too much protein in the urine during pregnancy?
- Have unhealthy eating behaviors?
- Are you 55 or older for women or 45 or older for men?
In conclusion: For A Healthy Heart

I love that top on you! One of the reasons I have been consistent with running with my friends the past almost 2 years is for keeping a healthy heart.

Running, especially with friends, is excellent! Heart health and strong building bones are my reasons for walking. And my dogs are on the list, too!🤣
One of my goals for the new year has been to take care of checkups and doctor’s appointments. And my word of the year is “move” to remind myself to exercise every day even if it’s a quick workout. Xo Nipa
Nipa,
We are thinking alike in 2023. Scheduling and keeping up with health and wellness at the top of my intention list.
I’m working on getting my heart healthier now. It’s hard once it’s gone to retrieve it.
I am right here with you Rena. Walking, regular check ups, and a healthy diet are all on my to-do list.
Such good information Rosemary! Heart disease is no joke, we must pay better attention as women.
Love your outfit, that blouse is stunning!

Prevention is the best medicine! And knowledge is key. We as women need to pay special attention to the signs and symptoms.
So important to keep your body moving, not only fysical but also mental.
Nancy, you are so right!
As we so often hear the say, ” Move it or lose it!”
It is so true! And prevention is the best medicine.
I love that blouse, it is so pretty! I also love the information that you shared. Living a healthy lifestyle is very important to me physically and also mentally. I hope that you have a great day today too!
Thank you Caroline for all your kind compliments.
Have a wonderful weekend❣️
That is a beautiful red top!
Thanks, Joanne.
So happy you joined us here today.
Chico’s needs to pay you a healthy commission for styling and wearing their clothing so impeccably. What a put-together yet easy look. And a great message. I would never have guessed I would have heart issue but… keeping them under control for now. Need to eat better and exercise a bit more. Hoping to make this year my healthiest in a long time.
Leslie,
Heart health is one of those things we often don’t think about until there is an issue. Often called the silent disease.
