How To Refresh Your Home Decor Without A Complete Redo

Time to Refresh The Nest!

Hi Guys!

Are you thinking that your home decor needs a little refreshing this fall? Maybe, some colors that are more on-trend? Or, that favorite chair is looking slightly outdated.

Well, I feeling it too!

It started this spring while touring the Parade of Homes.

I love looking at new homes. And, of course, I should. I have been in real estate for more than twenty- five years. And I love dressing homes in a comfy southern style.

As I toured the beautiful homes, I knew that it is time to refresh my spaces and add some gray to my beige interiors.

Project: Refresh Family Room

Since this is an ongoing project I plan to share as it unfolds in a series of posts.

To give this family room space an easy refresh I plan to add a few simple decor updates.

My plan is to modernize and brighten the feel of the room with a quick paint update. By changing the brown accent on the ceiling insert to gray the room will immediately begin to feel on-trend. (This is not a complete room re-paint. Just painting the accent color).

Plus, I will be swapping out the dark rugs and adding new pillows.

This is our favorite comfy chair. I definitely do not want to part with it. But as you can see it is well used, but still in good condition.

  • Plan: Get it recovered with a neutral fabric.

Getting Started

As I stated earlier, this is an on-going project, which I started last spring.

When I decided that I wanted to change the color scheme, I started collecting new items for the space in the gray tones.

I’m a bargain hunter!

And so, I have been watching for the sales throughout spring and summer and collecting rugs and pillows for a fall refresh.

Well, here we are so far!

It won’t be long now. The paint color is chosen!

I am still hunting for a few accessory items to complete my fall decor refresh which I will share as I find them.

The hunt is part of the fun!

    • Me too, Kellyann!

I’m always purchasing decorative pillows whenever I’m shopping.
It’s an easy inexpensive way to change things up or seasonal decoration.
I found that I must buy them when I find them. After the holiday and at the end of the season is a great time for collecting.

      Enjoy your up coming trip!

  1. Great post. I love all things remodel and redecorating. I am working with grays, blues and whites right now….a coastal vibe. I have a chair that is so well worn and does not match my decor and am trying to decide what to do. I looked for slipcovers, but it’s an odd size. Haven’t checked the cost of upholstering yet, but I will. Your home is gorgeous and just love those plantation shutters!
