How To Style A Spring Poncho

It’s mid-February and spring break in north Florida is arriving. Our winter temperatures are departing and yet we still have the challenge of warding off the evening chill. Sometimes, all we need is easy to wear a wrap to keep the inside air conditioning chill at bay when inside a restaurant, airplane, or movie theater. And if we don’t need a warm coverup, a poncho-style top is an attractive start to a creative springtime outfit. My solution is a lightweight spring poncho!

5 Ways To Style A Spring Poncho

1. Choose bright colors for a spring vibe

2. Fashion it with leggings

3. Pair it with white jeans

4. Style it with the same color (monochromatic)

5. Enjoy BoHo Styling

Bright Colors

Bright spring poncho is perfect for your Florida style wardrobe,

This Bright Yellow Poncho is unstructured and lightweight. It’s perfect for the fresh spring North Florida evenings. The bright color screams springtime, anytime, it’s Florida!

It can be worn in a variety of different ways: v-neck, boat-neck, round-neck, off the shoulder. You choose. Plus, if you get too warm, it is lightweight enough to fold up and put into your bag. You can usually find a poncho or cape of this weight in my car at all times.

Leggings and Tunic Tops

The poncho-style tunic top is a fabulous Florida style and a must-have for great Boho style. Because it is so fresh and airy it’s a favorite that can be worn either alone or over a shell or tee top.

The Boho look can provide the Shabby-chic, Retro-hippie, Beach Style that is Florida. Especially,  because of the soft materials and uninhibited flow of design and structure, it is a go-to style for spring and summer. Incidentally, this style top does double duty and will work perfectly as a swimsuit cover-up.

Jeans

Monochromic Style

These days jeans are a go-to favorite anywhere and any time of the year. But the combination of white on white for a monochromic is outstanding, especially when paired with a white poncho-style tunic top.

Boho Chic

In conclusion, Wikipedia states that ponchos in their simplest form are a single sheet of fabric with an opening in the center for the head a sometimes a hood.

In my post last year, Poncho Versus Ruana, I reviewed the origins of the poncho and why we love it so much.

And, as we can see the poncho is so much more and a wonderful addition to a spring wardrobe and also great for travel.

  2. Wonderful selections, I enjoyed seeing all the ways you choose to style a variety of ponchos if I had to pick a favorite I’d say the bright yellow. Traditionally, you’d think ponchos were only for warmth but the silk, and gauze version offer more options. Enjoyed seeing all your beautiful looks.

    • I have found the poncho to be a great wrap, coverup, top for life in Florida.

As you can see I collect them throughout my travels.

The advantage of poncho over a wrap is that you are handsfree. No holding the wrap in place. The dis-advantage is that you pull it over your head.

  3. You have so many lovely ponchos and you wear them well! I like the striped ones! 🙂 Which I don’t have any ponchos I do have a few kimonos – warm weather layering is what’s needed most here in Brisbane!
